Hi all, I have a question, specifically for the Boss. Have you ever thought of expanding to include AirSoft? (obviously not adding airsoft players into the mix of paintballers, running 2 different game types) The safty gear is the same, rules are almost the same, and many woodsball players might be attracted to the more 'mil-sim' aspect of it, thus increasing attendance from the more 'back yard game' types. Dont get me wrong, I love paintball, and I have been playing at WPP for several years with my AutoCocker STO (the blue E-blade and blue / purple mechanical, sporting the blue Eclipse jersey) With this economy being the way it is, I have found it harder and harder to justify dropping close to $100 for one day of gaming, thus, I have not played since Feb '08. So I have taken up AirSoft, and found it to be just as fun, for less pinch on the wallet. The biggest issue that I have found is, well, finding a place to play with out being seen by the public, and thus having to explain to the police why we have 'assult weapons in public'. Many people on an airsoft forum that I am a member of have suggested asking paintball field owners if they have ever considered also having airsoft played. I have composed a short list of pros-cons for consideration
Pros: 1) many woods ball players play for Mil-Sim, this would be more their taste 2) Biodegradeable BB's are available, so no worry about plastic littering (can be enforced by a no BYO-BB, unlike the BYOP paintball rule, but this would mean stocking .12-.20g Bio-BB's, unless it is amended to have all ammo checked before play) 3) no need for air-refills, most 'replicas' are spring or battery powered. 4) ammo is MUCH cheaper (aprox 50-75% cheaper per 2000) 5) those who play/played paintball already have the safty gear, and for interest in rentals, full face masks are already available.
Cons: 1) more refs will be needed 2) need to purchase rental gear (I do know of a wholeseller (case of 6 battery powered for $100-200 depending on type), if interested I can give that information) 3) no barrel protection (though barrel coveres from paintball markers will work) 4) no way to lower FPS, though, a 400fps .28g bb hurts about the same as a 280fps paintball, just a smaller welt.
Thoughts? Ideas? Comments? Questions? Concerns?
